Hatha Yoga
Hatha is most often used to describe gentle, basic yoga classes with no flow between poses. Expect a slower-paced stretching class with some basic pranayama breathing exercises and perhaps seated meditation at the end. Hatha classes are a good place to learn beginner's poses, relaxation techniques, and become comfortable with yoga. Teacher might make manual adjustments
Gentle Flow
Is structured around rejuvenating, empowering and healing the body and the mind. This class is a slower pace class with a lot of fun moves that focuses on stretching all areas of the body, while releasing stress and tension physically, mentally and emotionally. The main focus is to move with breath. Teacher might make manual adjustments.
Yin Yoga
Open the body and mind as the teacher slowly move the body into poses and holds them for several minutes at a time, stretching the connective tissue around the joints and releasing the fascia throughout the body. Benefits of yin practice include calming and balancing mind and body, increased mobility and flexibility, lowering of stress and anxiety levels, relief from migraines and TMJ. Good for all levels and high levels of stress. Teacher might make manual adjustments.
Power Vinyasa
Power Yoga is a powerful, energetic form of yoga where students fluidly move from one pose to the next while connecting their breathing to their movements. Prepare to sweat and be challenged.
Warm Flow
Appropriate for students with a basic understanding of asana (posture) and those wishing to intensify the practice and understanding of internal and external forms of the practice. Sun salutations, inversions, full back bends are included in this class. Be prepare to sweat and to be challenged. Teacher might make manual adjustments.
Hot Power Flow
Heat and sweat helps detoxify. The heat also warms the body and encourages muscle suppleness, joint mobility and flexibility. This means you can have a deeper yoga practice, but also the chance of injury is reduced. Sweating and letting-go feels great, and at the end of a Hot Power Flow practice you will feel physically, mentally and emotionally cleansed. We keep the yoga studio at a comforting temperature that makes it feel like you are practicing on a tropical island, not in an oven!
Kundalini
Class begins with a short chant followed by a warm-up to stretch the spine and improve flexibility. The main work of the class is called a kriya, which is a prescribed sequence of poses and pranayama, that focuses on a precise area of the body. The teacher typically does not make manual adjustments. The class ends with a meditation, which may be accompanied by the teacher playing a large gong, and closing song. Kundalini devotees often wear flowing white robes and head wraps, but don’t feel obligated to adopt this style of dress when you take class.
Pilates and Yoga
Enjoy the best of both worlds – this class is an invigorating mix of basic Pilates mat exercises and beginner yoga poses. Perfect for students who wish to explore both disciplines!
Restorative Yoga
A relaxing, meditative class which uses props to allow a gentle opening in the body. Most poses are experienced while laying or sitting on the floor. The postures are timed and students are directed when to switch sides and when to come out of the pose. The teacher is very skilled on guided meditation and visualization techniques wile holding the poses.
Kids Yoga
Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop a relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvelous inner light that all children have to the surface.
